How payment fees work
Escargo platform fee
Taking payment through Escargo is optional. Subscribed plans pay 1.5% of each eligible payment Escargo processes. A payments-only Escargo Profile account, where offered, pays 1.75%. The underlying payment-processing costs may also apply and are passed through at cost, never folded into our fee. Cash, bank transfer and your existing card terminal remain supported and carry no Escargo payment fee.
Stripe processing
Stripe's card-processing cost is separate and passed through at Stripe's actual cost for each payment. It varies by card type, so we never promise one fixed rate. Your statement always shows the real amount.
Tap to Pay, in development
In-person card payments on a compatible phone are an intended Escargo Payments capability and are not available yet. Stripe supports Tap to Pay in Ireland through its Terminal SDK; the Escargo integration is not built, so we are not selling it as live and have not set a launch date. Online payments, payment links, recovery payments and refunds are available today. Cash and your existing card terminal keep working exactly as they do now.
No payment, no percentage. The fee only applies when you actually get paid.
Pricing questions
Are card payment fees included in the Escargo fee?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Escargo charges a 1.5% platform fee on eligible payments it processes for subscribed plans, or 1.75% if you use Escargo for payments without a subscription. The underlying payment-processing costs are charged separately at cost. Your payment statement shows both amounts separately, so you always see exactly where every cent went. If you take payment by cash or your own terminal, no Escargo payment fee arises at all.
Which plan is right for most garages?
Escargo Business at €39 a month suits most single-location garages. It covers the daily run of the place: bookings, job cards, customer tracking and payments, with reporting when you need the numbers. If you sell cars as well, Escargo Dealer includes 20 live listings. If you run recovery, Escargo Recovery adds dispatch and driver assignment. Escargo Pro brings the lot together, including Workshop OS and supplier ordering.
Is there a contract or an annual price?
Plans are month to month, with no minimum contract, and you can cancel any time. Paid plans include a 15-day free trial, and Escargo Profile includes the first three months. There is no annual price yet. If that changes, it will be published here first.
Can I take card payments in person yet?
Not through Escargo yet. In-person payments, meaning Tap to Pay on a compatible phone and card readers, are an intended part of Escargo Payments. The integration is not built and we have not committed a launch date. Today Escargo handles online and customer payments, payment links, recovery payments and refunds. Your existing card terminal and cash keep working alongside Escargo and carry no Escargo payment fee.
Do I need to pay to appear on Escargo?
No. When the public directory launches, a garage will be able to join Escargo and manage a free profile. Paid placement, if offered, will always be clearly labelled Sponsored and never disguised as organic ranking.
